Open Call «en masse»

Masses challenge us. They’re forceful, energetic and have the potential to change, destroy or make a difference.

For the 10th sonOhr Radio & Podcast Festival from February 21st to 23rd  2020, we’re looking for audio pieces and program ideas that explore the topic of «en masse» in terms of content, sound, tone, format or imagery.

We’ll look at the excess of consumption and the overabundance of data, at mass hysteria and collective intelligence, at mass movements and protests. We’re also drawn to the contrary: sufficiency, isolation and silence. We want to discuss belonging, community and coexistence. We want to make the thundering, manifold voices of the masses audible and are looking for material that moves the masses.

Are you a producer or author of radio fictions, documentaries, podcasts, audio art; are you a sound researcher, trainer or inventor of new sound-rich formats or audio technologies? Then we’d be happy to hear from you. We’re looking for listening sessions, presentations, talks, soundwalks, live-podcasts, panel discussions, workshops, interactive formats, and more.

Submission date: August 20th, 2019

And then?
All pitches will be reviewed by our program commission and the feasibility of desired sessions will be discussed with the producers. Chosen sessions will be compensated fairly. You’ll hear from us by the end of September.

Good to know: This call does not replace the call for our annual national competition, which will follow by the end of June.
